Kingdom fall to Fulham for second time in fortnight

Fulham Irish 0-12 Kingdom/Kerry Gaels 0-7

Played in blisteringly hot conditions in Ruislip, Fulham Irish saw off the challenge of KKG for the second time in a fortnight in this first round Championship encounter.
KKG took the lead with their first attack, slotting over a free and followed up with another from play.
Fulham were struggling to find their legs but opened their account with a Lorcan Mulvey free in the fifth minute. He repeated the feat on 11 minutes to draw the game level.
KKG, playing with the breeze, were enjoying more success in their attacking efforts and tagged on two long range points in the 14th and 15th minutes to lead by double scores at the midpoint of the half.
Fulham continued to graft and were further rewarded with a Gareth Mc Dermott free. With half time approaching, some poor covering in the KKG defence saw Peader Friel break free behind the cover but his low shot was stopped by the KKG keeper. The rebound however was slotted over by Mc Dermot, to leave the teams level at the break, 0-4 each.
KKG started the second half in the same manner as the first with a point in their first attack, but Fulham hit a purple patch hitting 5 points in 6 minutes from Friel, Mulvey, Dean O’Neill and a brace from Danny McGovern.
Fulham continued to control possession without troubling the scoreboard and with just 5 minutes remaining, KKG had reduced the lead to 2 points.
A long range free from McDermot and another from Mulvey gave Fulham some breathing space going into the final minutes, but a scramble in the Fulham goalmouth saw the ball rebound from the inside of the post.
With 4 minutes of injury time played a final point from Mulvey put the game beyond doubt and say Fulham claim the points.
