Bruising encounter sees Fulham conquer Towers

Fulham Irish 2-10 Round Towers 0-06
Sunday, July 19 2015

At a windy Mitcham, Fulham Irish dominated from start to finish in a bruising encounter as the referee tended to let the game flow and took no notice of the illegal tackles and hits going in.
Playing against the strong breeze, Fulham Irish controlled the ball well and opened the scoring with a goal from James O’Rourke.
Despite the amount of possession, a combination of poor decision making and poor finishing meant only 4 more points were added in the opening half, through Dean O’Neill, Peadar Friel, Rian Kealey and Conor Sheridan.
That left the half time score Fulham Irish 1-04 Round Towers 0-04.
Now playing with the advantage of the strong breeze, the second half was slow to develop but Towers were really struggling to penetrate the Fulham Irish defence.
Points by Friel and a couple from David Duggan extended the lead before an Andrew O’Regan goal sealed the win.
Further points from Benny Martin, O’Rourke and Sean O’Sullivan completed the scoring.
In a dour struggle of a game, it was good to win over Round Towers who usually play above themselves when Fulham Irish visit them in Mitcham.
Star men on the day were Ciaran O’Connor, Roger Morgan and Aidan Savage
