One-sided victory over under-strength Parnells

Fulham Irish 3-24 Parnells 1-07

Fulham racked up an impressive 27 scores in this one-sided league game in fine conditions at Ruislip against an understrength Parnells team.
Although also missing a number of regulars the Fulham Irish lads took control of the game from the throw in and were 1-9 to 0-1 to the good after 15 minutes, the goal coming in the third minute when the industrious Marty Hughes blasted home off the inside of the post.
Fulham dominated the middle third of the pitch with Hurl Dockry, James McNelis and Mickey Murphy all prominent in winning possession and launching quick-fire attacks.
The Fulham Irish inside forward line of Gareth Mc Dermott, Marty Hughes and Peader Friel wreaked havoc, helping themselves to 1-11 to Fulham’s first half total of 1-16.
Parnells by contrast struggled to break the Fulham Irish defensive line and could only manage 2 points in the entire half.
Parnells rallied at the beginning of the second half and went score for score with Fulham Irish for the first 10 minutes, trading early goals, Fulham’s coming from Gareth McDermot in the third minute of the half, the Parnells goal a well worked move down the left of Fulham’s defence.
Fulham Irish once again asserted their control over the game and continued to pick off scores with Liam Turley, James Mc Nelis and John Boyce all getting on the scoresheet. The game concluded with a neat finish from Friel to the net to round off a good afternoon’s work.
Plenty of positives to take form the Fulham Irish performance in a game where they were never really under pressure. Tougher tests lie ahead.
